Ohio Voters Say "NO"
To Weed & GreedOhio Refuses Drug Deal
[Now Let's Legalize Common Sense!]
ISLAM NEWSROOM: Marijuana Proposition Voted Down in Ohio
We'd like to thank the hundreds of thousands of Ohioans who worked tirelessly to put Issue 3 on the ballot, educate friends and family members and who voted to bring marijuana reform to our state.
We would have never gotten this far without your support.
We started the conversation, and we're going to continue the conversation starting tomorrow.
The status quo doesn't work, it's unacceptable and we're not going away.
All the things we've fought for are true.
Ohioans still need treatment and deserve compassionate care.
And our state needs the jobs and tax revenue that marijuana legalization will bring.
Strange huh? They claim a victory for stopping a drug deal - only because it wasn't the drug deal they wanted...
Might not be long before they get the deal they want, and put this nasty habit right out in front of our kids! (editorial opinion sited)
Islam tells us: "Anything that intoxicates in large amounts - is forbidden (Haram) even in small amounts". (Hadith of the prophet, peace be upon him).
COMMENTS: Of course there are exceptions for serious or life threatening conditions, we all know that. A Muslim could even eat pork (swine is forbidden in the Quran) under certain circumstances - like dying for lack of food. But even then there are limits. For example it would only be permissible to eat just enough to satisfy basic starvation, and then only until something else was made available.
Some studies do indicate that oils derived from the marijuana plant might help children with autism, and possibly other health issues. Yet, these exceptions might be licensed through medical practictioners with some type of secure monitoring, rather than opening the doors to "Smoke Joints" and "Pot Places" instead of the current problem with "Sheesha Shops".

very informative and well presented. being a resident of Pakistan, I can only imagine the hardship and effort required by American muslims in keeping their children away from drugs. at least theoretically, no law can be a part of Pakistani constitution if it is against islam. may allah give them strength to stay on the true, straight path. insha-allah.
