I Just Came to Islam

Can I start my life all over?

We recieved this message some time ago:

"Salam! I have been given the grand opportunity to have a Muslim in my life and I am asking you to teach me about Islam.
I was a Christian - but ..in the past two months, my desire is to know more about Islam and I want to convert."
"I truly believe there is only One God. We must to serve Him and follow His Will."
"I find comfort in many things in Islam and feel God has sent me this Muslim person as a gift from Him (God).
But I do have a concern: My mother and father are Christians and they worry about me converting to Islam.
I know my mother would be horribly upset and I don't want to the cause of this.
I happyness in my life and I believe I am comfortable in Islam and what God has given me.
My family is very important in my life and I do not want to seperate from them. How do I go about converting without hurting my family?
Please help me. I am caught between my honor to my family and faithfulness to God."

Thank you for your time and assistance, salam.

Bismillah Rahman Raheem - Salam alaykum to you too.
Welcome to Islam, your new way of life. Congratulations on being guided by Allah to the correct belief in Allah as the One and Only God, and Muhammad, ﷺ, as His messenger.

We're always pleased and happy to know of our new brothers and sisters choosing Islam as their way of life.

Your statement in affirmation of faith, provides the best chance of Paradise in the Next Life, inshallah.

You can ask questions and get answers straight from the Quran and Sunnah (the main sources of Islam).

I do agree with you, Allah has sent you a Muslim person to help you find your way to the truth of life, called ISLAM.

Answer to your QUESTIONS:

1. QUESTION:"Can I start over?"

Answer: YES! This is one of the first things you will learn in Islam. You are now, as you just came from you mother - innocent. You don't have anyting with Allah, except for all the good deeds you have done in your "former life". You have no bad deeds at all. Everything you have done (sins), is now turned to good things. You don't have a single thing bad. But you still owe for anything you borrowed.

2. QUESTION: "Concern over family relations?"

Answer: You are right to have concern for your parents and wanting to hold good relations with them. This is very important. Allah orders us to maintain the ties of kinship, not severing the connections to all our family. This is the 5th Commandment in the Bible an it is the same in Islam. It is natural for you to have these feelings.

3. QUESTION: "How to accept Islam and still be a part of my family?"

Answer: One step at a time -  Realize, Allah does understand what you are going through. Don't try to do as much as you can, but not more than you are capable of doing.

Additionally, teaching of the beliefs and practices in Islam are all over the world, in books, audios, tapes, videos, online websites and even TV (our website GUIDE US TV). Our broadcast is recorded and live on our TVchannel. Sheik Salim Morgan, Imam Mutahhir Sabree, ZAD academy - and others like you and I, who have chosen Islam.

Start from the beginning!

Ask questions - Don't give statements.

EXAMPLES: "Can I ask you something?" - "Are you concerned for my well-being?" "Are you pleased with our lives?" -

Ask them: (1) "Is there any testable proof for God?" (2) "Is God really ONE?" (3) "Should we follow His Commandments?"

If they answer all 3 with a "Yes!" They are ready for answers -

START HERE: Ask the Question: "Do you know one word in Arabic means many words in English?"

AFTER they see and hear about Islam ~ from the truth, just ask, "Any questions?"

God Himself is the real Guide. If someone is sincere, asking for guidance from God (Allah) and they ask Him (not Jesus) He will guide them to His Way (Islam).
