Although the university hall was rather crowed, the audience remained for hours enjoying the opportunity to come together with other Muslims and non-Muslims to listen while Sheik Yusuf told his stories with his usual Texas accent and straight shooting with.

OTTAWA CANADA Asmahan Mansour is an ordinary kid. She enjoys hot chocolate every morning. She watches Lizzie McGuire on TV. She's a tomboy, a girl wedged between an older and younger brother. She loves playing sports. In the summer when she wakes up, the first thing she does is go outside to shoot hoops or juggle a soccer ball. Soccer is the passion of this happy-go-lucky girl and the past week has seen her in the spotlight for what she loves most -- playing the game. REFEREE RULING Asmahan was ejected from an indoor soccer tournament last weekend in Quebec because she refused to remove her religious head scarf, known as a hijab.

The king made his remarks, rare criticism from a key U.S. ally in the region, Wednesday, at the annual Arab League summit in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
In violence Wednesday, an Iraqi army officer says 70 people were killed by gunmen in a Sunni district of the northern town of Tal Afar -- in apparent revenge for deadly bombings in a Shi'ite area.
The officer, General Khourshid al-Douski, says 30 people were wounded in the attack and another 40 are missing.

Meanwhile, the U.S. officials are welcoming the Arab League's relaunch of its 2002 peace initiative for Israel. Here is VOA's David Gollust's report from the U.S. State Department -
Officials here are not depicting downplaying the remarks of the Saudi king as a problem in relations with Saudi Arabia, a key Middle East ally of the United States.But they say they will contact the Saudi government over the comments, and are defending the legality of U.S. involvement in Iraq.
In a Senate Foreign Relations Committee appearance, Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns, said the United States was "a little surprised" to see the remarks, and will ask for clarification.
