68 The Pen 500Pen Mightier than the Sword?

Al-Qalam The Pen

(chapter 68)

Opening: Allah Swears By the PEN (verses 1–4)
(not the Sword)

Jesus in the Bible says,

HE (God Allah) swears by The PEN and what people write with it. It shows the importance of knowledgewriting, and truthHE immediately defends the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ against accusations of madness. Instead, HE declares Muhammad ﷺ is of the highest character.

Prophet ﷺ Will Be Proven True (verses 5–16)

HE tells the Prophet ﷺ he will see who is truly misguided. HE warns us and leaders of the Quraysh of arrogance and mocking the Prophet ﷺ. HE describes their evil: greed, harshness, slanderous, proud of their wealth. HE promises to disgrace such people.

Owners of the Garden

(verses 17–33)
68 The Pen 500

  • Their Inheritance: They got a fertile garden, inherited from their generous father, who took care of the poor.
  • Their Plan: They decided to secretly harvest early, keeping everything for themselves. They even whispered so the poor wouldn't hear them. They also failed to say “inshallah” (If God / Allah had Willed).
  • HIS Punishment: While they slept, Allah sent a visitation (explained in tafsir as a fire or blight sent by Allah, not a natural accident). The garden was destroyed overnight.
  • Shock: In the morning, they thought they were lost. Then they realized the truth: “We have been deprived!
  • Regret: They confessed, “Glory be to our Lord, we were wrongdoers.” They blamed each other, but also turned back to Allah with hope: “Perhaps our Lord will give us something better.
  • Lesson: Wealth is fragile without Allah’s blessingGreed destroys. Charity protects. Always ~ Repentance is possible.

A Greater Loss — Judgment Day
(34–41)

Allah explains the parable’s meaning: just as the garden was destroyed, those who deny Allah will lose everything on Judgment Day. The righteous will be rewarded with gardens of Paradise, while wrongdoers will be punished.

Believers and Disbelievers
(42–47)

On that Day, people will be exposed. Sinners will be unable to bow to Allah, while believers will be honored. The disbelievers once mocked believers, but roles will be reversed on Judgment Day.

A Final Warning
(48–52)

Chapter ends reminding the Prophet ﷺ to be patient, like Jonah, when he was in the whale. The Prophet ﷺ is told not to despair — the disbelievers will see the truth. The Recitation reminds all people. God (Allah) is aware of who is choosing guidance and who is rejecting it.

* Summary *

  • The Pen symbolizes truth and knowledge.
  • The Prophet ﷺ is defended against false accusations.
  • Garden Owners show what happens when wealth is hoarded and God (Allah) is forgotten.
  • Judgment Day exposes arrogance and rewards humility.
  • This chapter closes with patiencewarning, and the reassurance, from Almighty God.

🌍 DAWAH

  • Christians know all about mercy: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive Mercy.” (Matt. 5:7). The Recitation also teaches this.
  • Bible & Recitation warn against arrogancegreed, and not taking care of the poor.
  • This chapter calls people back to Almighty God, who controls blessings, punishment, and justice.

🤲 Al-Qalam (68) is both warning against arrogance defense of the Prophet ﷺ.

Knowledge, Humility, and Charity leads to Paradise — but Pride, Greed, and Wrong Belief leads to Hell.

This has transliteration of words (like: God / Allah).
So, non-Muslims, know what we take for granted.
