Greed for Gold Don’t Bring Good!
Out on the open range, was a cowboy skilled with a rope. Folks called him Tex Roper. He could lasso anything—cattle, wild mustangs, even a jackrabbit on the run.
One day Tex heard a story from an ole timer, 'bout a hidden mountain made of solid gold, sittin’ far beyond the horizon. He claimed it sparkled in the sunlight and anyone, and who could rope out just one rock from it would be richer than a railroad tycoon.
Well, this sounded mighty tempting to old Tex.
He worked up his favorite lasso, and then, something he never did before, he dipped it in gold dust.
He set out in the scorching deserts and the winds a’howlin’, but only thinkin’ about GOLD.
He passed by folks needin’ help, tryin’ to wave him down — but he kept a’riding, eyes fixed on his GOLD dream.
It were days before he finally before he found that ole mountain — but sure enough it was’a sparkling with GOLD!
Then he went closer and found the perfect rock of GOLD sticken’ out and threw his lasso straight at it — he caught a big chunk of GOLD, bigger than his saddle.
He was’a struggling, and tuggin’ for all he was worth.
But that ole piece ‘o GOLD just held tight to the rocks of GOLD beside it.
Then he got an idea — just hook his lasso to the saddle on his horse and let the horse do the pullin’.
He took his time, hooked it up right, got his horse in position, and bang!
Just like that! It pulled loose!
But the GOLD around it broke up too! The whole mountain started a’ shakin’ and rumblin’ and crumble down before his very eyes. It was an avalanche.
His horse was killed in the avalanche — he lost his golden lasso as well.
He had nothing! No GOLD. No lasso. No horse. No saddle.
Even if he did succeed in gitten’ the GOLD, there was no way he could carry it — even on the horse he didn’t have anymore.
Too much weight, even if he got it.

THE LESSON
You can’t rope in happiness with a lasso of gold.
Greed blinds a man to what matters most — faith in One God, kindness, family, and peace in the heart.
And in the Quran, our Lord says:
“Whoever is protected from the greed of his soul—these are the successful.”
Surah Hashr https://recitequran.com/59:9
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“If the son of Adam were to have a valley of gold, he would want another just like it. Nothing will fill his mouth but the dust (grave).”
— [Sahih Bukhari 6436, Sahih Muslim 1048]
Let’s not chase after a mirage of GOLD, pardner.
Real treasure’s in a heart a' trusting in Allah, and sharing what Allah gives ya, and walkin’ a trail of TRUTH!
