Hadith?

Hadith: recitings or stories, passed down by voice.

After the Friday sermon (Kutbah)  a boy stood up after the Friday kutbah and said loud,

I follow the Qur’an — I do not take hadith.”

The imam heard the boy - then he said to everyone leaving,

"Stop and listen . ."

Hadith NO 1

Son, may I ask you a question?"

They stopped walking out and came back in to hear the Imam talking about Quran and hadith.

They all wanted to learn more, especially what to say to someone . .

. . who doesn't take Hadith!

The imam took his time for the rest of the Muslims boys to get to their places.

"Do you mean you don't take any hadith?"

The boy said,

"Yes!"

He asked him another question.

"But you trust the Quran?"

The boy answers . .

"Yes sir. I do."

"Why don't you don't trust hadith?"

The boy says,

"I don't trust the hadith."

The imam said,

"Do you think we need hadith?"

The boy answers . .

"No sir. We do not."

The imam said,

"What about promises in Quran of forgiveness and big mansions above the sky?"

"Yeah. This is what I'm looking forward to!"

The imam talks to everone now . .

"And what about about people sleeping in a cave for 300 years?

Surah 18, ayah 9

". . and storms wiping out one place and not the place right next to it?"

Before the boy could say anything, the imam continued with his points.

" . . and what a man falls off a boat, swallowed by a whale and lives to tell about it?

The boy said, in a loud voice,

"For sure, all this is in the Quran."

The Iman kept talking, not just to the new Muslim, but to all of the people in the room.

"This is in the Quran. So, you believe it?"

The boy said,

"I do trust the Quran!"

"Good for you. Do you trust prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him?"

"I trust anything in the Quran."

"Did you know, the printing press wasn't invented yet?"

The Imam was looking straight at the young boy.

"How did the angel give the Quran to the prophet?

And how did prophet give it to others?

He heard the angel recite it. Then he recited it to others.

They recited it to others, and this what we believe in today."

Now the boy says,

"Well, sure. I'd be a fool if I said I don't trust the prophet and the people who carried it."

The Imam starts naming and reciting verses out of Quran, talking about how the Quran is Hadith:

1. Surah Az-Zumar (39:23)

اللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابًا

“Allah has sent down the best ḥadīth — a Book...”

📌 Here, the Qur’an itself is called “the best ḥadīth” — a direct label from Allah.

2. Surah Al-Mursalat (77:50)

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ

"Then in what hadith after this (Quran) will they believe?"

📌 This verse confirms: No other hadith worth believing after the Qur’an — if it’s truly from Allah.

3. Surah Al-Qalam (68:44)

فَذَرْنِي وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ

"So leave Me to deal with the one who denies this ḥadīth.”

📌 Again, “this ḥadīth” refers to the Qur’an — as a spoken, delivered message from Allah.

🕋 Verses Commanding Obedience to the Prophet ﷺ (Hadith in Action)

1. Surah An-Nisa (4:59)

“O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger…”

🔹 This verse clearly separates obedience to the Messenger — showing it's not just Qur’an, but his own guidance and judgments that must be followed.

2. Surah Al-Hashr (59:7)

“Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, avoid it . ."

📌 That includes rulings, actions, and sunnah — all of which are in the hadith.

3. Surah An-Najm (53:3–4)

“He does not speak from his own desire. It is only a revelation sent to him.”

📌 This means even the Prophet’s speech (when teaching or judging) is rooted in revelation —

. . . even if it’s not part of the Qur’an itself.

The imam smiled gently and said,

“Good. Then trust the people who carried it —
  — because they’re the same ones who carried the hadith.”

The Prophet ﷺ called the Quran, ". . the truest hadith.”

The boys (and men) learned a lot -- from their imam.
