ISLAM NEWSROOM: "Pilgrims Escape Hotel Fire in Makkah"

Makkah, KSA -- 1,028 Hujjaj (Muslims on Hajj) escaped with their lives Thursday, from a raging fire in on Makkah hotel just a week before Yawm-ul Arafat (Day of Arafat), according to Saudi officials there.

Saudi Civil Defence spokesman from Riyadh said, Abdullah Al-Harthi, two of the the Muslims were hurt in this fire.

He also explained the fire got started up on the 8th floor of the 11 floor building, but did not know as yet the cause of the blaze.

The first of the Hajj mansik (rituals) begins this coming Tuesday, 22nd of September and continue on to the 26th, on Eid.

Already well over 1,000,000 pilgrims have arrived there in Makkah, and as always about 3 times that amount are expected.

The fifth pillar of the five pillars of Islam is to perform Hajj (piligrimage to Makkah) at least once in the lifetime and means are available.
