I Want To Be Close To God
But How Can I? I Do Sins!

ISLAM NEWSROOM UPDATE: MAY 17, 2015

"Letter from a sister who is so close to Islam - and our answer"

Dear Mr. Yusuf,
As a member of strict Christian background I feel afraid and nervous to think about some other religion, even though many things about Islam look very good to me.
How could I talk to you direct and help me get rid of some doubts?
When I talk to our preacher, he tells me to think about it but be careful about going over to the devil (Islam?)
The bishop of our church is close to my whole family and so is our pastor. So what would they say? What might they do to me?
I guess the real problem is inside me... I would have to change myself and become a lot better and cleaner than I am...
I eat pork, drink alcohol, I have piercings and tattoos and I am shy to say this - I have someone lives with me for - you know what..
Also, I have car on credit (I heard you can't do interest or usury, right?)
I tired to say some Muslims prayers in Arabic even I am a beginner.
Also what if I come in Islam and I do sins from my past life and can't shake all my bad ways?
Maybe I don't really deserve God to forgive me?
Can you help me?
Yours Truly,[name deleted]

ANSWERS:

Bismillah Salam alaykum (peace be unto you sister),

Why not just take life one-step-at-a-time?
1. You love God. (Y/N)?
2. You want to be closer to God. (Y/N)?
3. You need to have a real, personal and direct relationship with Him. (Y/N)?
If you answered "Y" to each question, then you are ready for the next steps (below). If you answer "N" to even one, then just hold off and work on your feelings until you find the "Y" for all three.
1. You know there is really only ONE GOD. (Y/N)?
2. You know Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, is real, he did miracles by the permission of God and he will return in the last days, as a man.
3. You know the Muhammad, peace be upon him, was a real person, a man who wanted people to save themselves through belief in One God.
If you answered "Y" to each of these questions, then you're ready for the next steps (below). If not - then hold off until you find the right knowledge and know in your heart it is true.
1. Your heart tells you God is One, without any partners. (Y/N)?
2. Your mind tells you Muhammad, Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, Moses, Abraham and Adam, peace be upon all of them, were true messengers of God.
3. Your spirit tells you the original Bible must have come from Almighty God in the first place, and only through mistakes of translation or interpretation did it get changed.
(how we doing so far?)
Next (if you are ready):
1. You feel uncomfortable with your current relationship with the Lord, incomplete.
2. You are concerned the stories or teachings from the church are not really 100% correct.
3. You want Almighty God to Guide you with His Guidance.
Now review all of the above statements. All "Y"?
You are ready for the very first, big step to start your journey of a lifetime.
STEP ONE: Take a shower or bath and make the intention you are washing away the old person you used to be, and washing away all the former sins - ALL SINS.
STEP TWO: Put on nice clean clothes that make you feel clean, decent and ready to present yourself in front of God, Lord Above.
STEP THREE: In the privacy of your own room or quite place, put your head on the ground in the direction of the West (a little bit South West, maybe).
STEP FOUR: Head on the ground, heart open to Lord Above, facing direction of the sacred house of Abraham, say these words: "O God. Guide me" (cry if you really feel like it)
If you have completed everything here, in the order above, in the last 24 hours, then click this link: www.IslamTomorrow.com/9points(Nine Points of Shahadah)
Now after looking at all 9 points - ask yourself how you feel about what you know and what you are feeling.
You will know if you are ready or not for another step.
If you are ready for the next step, send me a text with the words "ready now" and I'll tell you what is next.
OK?
Peace (salam alaykum),
Yusuf Estes
