What About Shisha?

Malaysian Fatwa Says:

"Smoking Shisha is - HARAM"

Muslims have been arguing back and forth on the subject of 'shisha' smoking for ages.

Smoking cigarettes, cigars, and pipe tobacco will cause cancer, and deforme babies -
IT IS HARAM!

Even it causes second hand cancer - for those who DO NOT SMOKE but exposed to it!

Muslims turned to what they call "halal smoking" -> shisha pipes. (Making millions from selling it and the equipment associated with it.)

Now the 'fatwa' (Islamic ruling), long over-due ruling against - smoking Shisha:

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Council for Islamic Affairs’ Fatwa Committee declared a fatwa on ‘shisha’.  At last, it is ‘haram’ (forbidden) for Muslims to smoke shisha.

Committee chairman Prof Emeritus Dr. Shukor Husin said: "Muslims are forbidden, from providing any shisha-smoking services, or any activity associated with shisha."

He continued, “After listening to the experts from the Health Ministry and scrutinizing medical and scientific evidence from the country and abroad on the ill-effects of shisha, the committee decided to prohibit shisha (for Muslims),” he said in a statement.

Doctor Husin further explained, "Shisha is a huge effect in terms of health and national economy. This is shaping of the future generations."

The committee said, "All scientific findings and comprehensive studies prove shisha is the most detrimental effect. Its widespread use, especially among young people and pregnate women, is very damaging, both to the mother and to the new born baby."

“Shisha is very bad for health. It is wasteful and is categorized as a despicable thing, all Muslims should avoid,” said Dr. Husin.

"Muslims shoud be united in facing these irresponsible people for the sake of defending the sanctity of Islam and the dignity of Muslims in the country."
