What Did Bush Really See in the Pope's Eyes? Was it "God" or "Allah?"

Remember when Bush said, "Christians and Muslims worship the same God?" Does that mean he saw "Allah" in the Pope's eyes?

Keep in mind, Bush also said he saw the "soul" of Mr. Putin in his eyes. What did that mean?

Does Bush really think he can see people's souls - does he think he can see "Allah"?

Question: "What do you see when you look into Mr. Bush's eyes?" (read my editorial comment at the end of the article)

Bush Says He Saw 'God' in Eyes of Pope Benedict XVI

I read earlier this week, what President George W. Bush told a reporter about looking into the Pope's eyes and he saw "God." This happened Friday when Bush answered the last question given to him by anchor news man Raymond Arroyo on Eternal Word TV Network. After noting Bush's all out welcome and meeting of the Pope at the airport (something he never did in the past for any leader), Arroyo asked Bush, "You said - famously - when you looked into Vladimir Putin's eyes you saw his soul. - When you look into Benedict XVI's eyes what do you see?"

And Bush answered immediately, "God."

What is it Bush really said about Putin's soul? Here is the exact quote from President Bush regarding Putin - "I looked the man in the eye. I was able to get a sense of his soul. I knew that President Putin was a man with whom I could work.”

Exactly what else has Mr. Bush stated? In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Charles Gibson, Bush said he believes, "both Christians and Muslims worship the same God."

This is often said. You may not agree with it, but there is only one God. Bush did NOT say he thinks they worship correctly or that they have a correct belief about God.

So, what did Mr. Bush actually say leading up to the statement about seeing "God" in the Pope's eyes? Here it is:

Bush said, "He's (the Pope) a really important figure in a lot of ways.
One - he speaks for millions.
Two - he doesn't come as a politician; he comes as a man of faith.
Three - I so subscribe to his notion 'there's right and wrong in life, that moral relativisn has a danger of undermining the capacity to have more hopeful and free societies, that I want to honor his convictions as well."

"The Holy Father", said Bush, "represents and stands for some values that I think are important for the health of the country, and when he comes to America, millions of my fellow citizens will be hanging on his every word. And that's why it's important."

The president said that the moral strength of the Pope is key for politicians.

"And I'm going to remind His Holy Father how important his voice is in making it easier for politicians like me to be able to kind of stand and defend our positions that are, I think, very important positions to take," he said.

Did Bush say, "The Pope influences millions of people?" Are these tax payers? Are they voters? How many Catholics are there in the world? How many would be influenced by the Pope's commandments?

Editorial comment: Hmmmm - when I look into Mr. Bush's eyes, I see a combination of Putin and Pope - with no room for God.

What?
