Update Ramadan 1435 (July 2014) - Catholic Church The Vatican

Remember our headlines back in February 2013? Every TV News Report, all the newspapers? Proclaiming:
"GOD TOLD POPE TO QUIT"

or "POPE QUITS DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES"

Yet when Pope Benedict left his position more than a year ago, he told one story to the press, but another story he told to Catholic insiders.

Now there's a different story about 'Why He Quit'

So far, here's what we now have right now - from the Catholic Church sources:

1. Vatican says: POPE DID NOT QUIT over gay sex..
Vatican strongly pushed back against bombshell reports linking Pope Benedict’s stunning resignation to the attempted blackmail of a secret group of gay clergy...

2. Pope's secretary: POPE DID NOT QUIT because God told him in a vision..
"The personal secretary for former Pope Benedict XVI now says a recent news report that the pontiff had a “mystical experience” in which God ..."

3. POPE DID NOT QUIT to dodge blame for misdeeds..
"La Repubblica has reported that the Pope was overwhelmed when presented with evidence mid-December last year"

4. POPE DID NOT QUIT because he was too sick or too tired..
"The pope has had a lot of health problems, to be sure, but, at least according to the official word, none of them are “relevant” to his resignation.."

OK - we got it! Pope Benedict DID NOT QUIT or ressign over - 'gay sex', or 'God's Order', or 'misdeeds' or 'too sick' or 'too tired' - or for any of the reasons orginally thought - according to his own secretary and the Catholic Church spokesmen...

So our question is - "THEN WHY DID HE QUIT?

The former pope Benedict said his resignation in February 2013 was prompted by God, who told him to do it during a "mystical experience".

The 86 year old broke his long silence for the first time since stepping down as pope (1st in 600 years to quit). Answering the question, "Why?" he said, "God told me to".

Later on the ex-pope denied he had been visited by a vision or that he heard God's voice, but he said he had undergone a "mystical experience" where God had inspired in him an "absolute desire" to dedicate his life to prayer rather than push on as pope.

The German ex-pontiff's comments, were reported by the Catholic news agency Zenit, which didn't name the person Benedict spoke to.

A senior Vatican source says the report is reliable, "The report seems credible. It accurately explains a spiritual process that brought Benedict to resign," he said.

Benedict later also said he understands how his stepping aside was the "will of God".

However, Benedict's reported remarks contrast with the explanation he gave to cardinals when he announced his resignation on 11 February. "My strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry," is what he said then.

Speculation also grew that he was depressed after his trusted butler, Paolo Gabriele, was caught leaking his private correspondence.

Also the Italian press reports he was frustrated by a network of influence built up by Vatican pro-gay lobby of prelates.

Zenit reports Benedict lives a secluded life of prayer and receives only 'select' visitors.

OK Now Here's what we learned at Islam Newsroom:

Pope Learns of Ancient Bible Discovery - Requests to See It - Then Quits

secret bible2

The leather-bound text, written on animal hide, was discovered by Turkish police during an anti-smuggling operation in 2000.

It was closely guarded until 2010, when it was finally handed over to the Ankara Ethnography Museum, and will soon be put back on public display following a minor restoration.

When Pope Benedict quit his post as Pope for the Catholic Church, he was the first to do so in over 600 years. His explanations to the press did not match what he has told insiders. Rather than so-called 'health issues', we learned he had some type of 'religious experiences'.

After learning we reported about the discovery of the ancient Bible in Islam Newsroom. We learned he officially requested to see the book we spoke about months before.
Then after seeing the ancient Book, hidden from the people for over 1,500 years - he quit.

Question: 'Was there something inside it to make him think hard about what Quran says about Jesus, peace be upon him?'

Some think so. Read this, and comment on your thoughts..

Secret £14 million Bible in which 'Jesus predicted Prophet Muhammad' unearthed in Turkey

* Pope Issues Official 'Request' to View Ancient Bible - Hidden by Turkish State
* Reportedly 'Handwritten' in Gold Letters - In language of Jesus
* One Page of Ancient Manuscript Thought to be Worth £1.5million

Muslims Claim Ancient Bible Proves Muhammad is the 'Comforter'
But it also says Muhammad is the Christ!
(Islam says Jesus is Messiah [christos] - CHRIST).

But exactly how much of this is reliable or true? How can we be so sure? (Good questions)

The job of Islam Newsroom.com is to provide correct information related to Islam & Muslims in simple English. When we find enough evidence - we print it. This is the news we need as Muslims - from the real sources.

We admit from beginning of this story, we had reservations about the whole thing. Partly due to the bad experience we had in Egypt some years ago - concerning a pumpkin with the words "Bismillah Rahman Raheem" embossed across it - from the growth of the pumpkin itself, but that's another story (click here to read it)

Anyway, back to our story on the Pope learning of the ancient Book and what he found (or didn't find)..

Read . .

..Secret Bible in which Jesus is believed to predict the coming of Muhammad as Messiah to Earth has sparked serious interest from the Vatican.

The £14million (14,000,000 British pounds) handwritten in gold lettered tome, written in the native language of Jesus (Aramaic) , is said to contain early teachings from Jesus, peace be upon him, and more important to Muslims - a prediction of the True Messiah to come after him - namely MOHAMED.

A photocopy of a single page from the handwritten ancient manuscript is thought to be worth £1.5million.

Near the end of last year (2012), the Turkish culture and tourism minister Ertugrul Gunay reported that the book was likely an authentic version of the Gospel. One that had been suppressed by the Christian Church because it has a very strong connection with the Islamic views of Jesus.

He also mentioned the Vatican (Pope) had made an official request to see the scripture - a controversial text which Muslims claim is an addition to the original gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John.

Just like the Islamic belief, the Gospel treats Jesus as a human being and Not as a God.

Rejects the Holy Trinity - Denies the Cruscifixtion of Jesus - and claims Jesus predicted Prophet Muhammad!

In a gospel withheld from the public, Jesus says, "How shall the Messsiah be called? Muhammad is his Blessed name".

And in another verse, Jesus denies being the Messiah, saying he will be a decedent of Abraham, an Ishmaelite [a term used for Arabs].

Despite the interest in the re-discovered book, some believe it is a fake and only dates back to the 16th century. (still that would be curious to find out: who?, what?, why? & how?)

The oldest copies of this book actually do date back to that time, but these were written in Spanish and Italian. (This indicates a very big loss in meaning, due to being translated and then re-translated from Aramaic (Jesus' language) to ancient Greek to likely Latin and then finally to Spanish or Italian)

secret bible4Protestant pastor Ihsan Ozbek said it is unlikely to be authentic.

St Barnabas lived in the first century and was one of the Apostles of Jesus, in contrast to this version which is claimed to be from a much later date.

He told the Today Zaman newspaper: 'The copy in Ankara might have been written by one of the followers of St Barnabas."

book ancient'Since there is around 500 years in between St Barnabas and the writing of the Bible copy, Muslims may be disappointed to see that this copy does not include things they would like to see.

'It might have no relation with the content of the Gospel of Barnabas.'

Theology professor Ömer Faruk Harman said a scientific scan of the bible may be the only way to reveal how old it really is.

Here now is our criticism of the text presented, based soley on the content:

“In one version of the gospel, he is said to have told a priest: ‘How shall the Messiah be called? Mohammed is his blessed name…..and in another, Jesus denied being the Messiah, claiming that he or she would be Ishmaelite, the term used for an Arab,” he added.

Back in March 1, 2012 - Yusuf Estes spoke out about the "Ancient Bible" that was supposed to prove that Muhammad is Messiah - found in Turkey, etc., etc. . . His comments:

Bismillah Rahman Raheem, innal-Hamdulillah Rabbil Alameen, was-salata was-salama ala Rasool al-Kareem. Allahu 'Alim.

What we find in the limited verses disclosed in the media, there is no doubt in my mind, this is could be another fabrication or altered book in some way.

Let me give only a brief summary of the findings we have collected and verified so far, inshallah:

To begin, notice the claim "Messiah" shall be called Mohammed (peace be upon him)?
This is a problem. Quran clearly tells us JESUS IS THE MESSIAH (meaning 'annointed', translated into Koine Greek as 'Christos' and to English as "Christ"). Muhammad, peace be upon him, is called by Allah in the Quran, 'Rasool' (messenger) not Messiah.

Next point - It says, "Mohammed is his blessed name.."
Again, this contradicts the Quran. Clearly in surah As-Saff, chapter 61, verse 6, Allah says, that Jesus, peace be upon him, said "Huwa ismahu Ahmad" (His name will be AHMAD) Not Mohammad.

This is a different form of his name, but at the same time we do all agree it is one of his names.

However it is not exactly what we know - because Allah did not say Jesus used the name 'Mohammad'.

Allah said in Quran, Jesus used the word 'Ahmad'.

Next point, "Jesus DENIED being the Messiah"??
All Muslims know, Jesus, peace be upon him, was and is - the Messiah (Annointed) of Allah.
That is what he is called in the Quran.

Another point, "..claiming that he or she"??
I don't recall any accepted scriptures having this type of reference to a prophet or messener of Allah?
The 'Messiah' of the Old Testament was referred to as a male being born of a virgin (female).

Just this one verse alone, seems to indicate to me, someone may have played with scripture, as it should not contain such an obvious contradiction.

Incidentally, someone wrote a COMMENT (below) about the words "Messiah" and "Rasool".
These are NOT the same at all.

Read . . .

Messiah is the anglicized version of a Hebrew term (Hebrew: מָשִׁיחַ, Modern Mashiaẖ Tiberian Māšîăḥ; Aramaic: ‎משיחא, Məšīḥaʼ; Arabic language مسيح, Masih; all meaning "anointed one");
generally transliterated as Mashiach, designating a king or High Priest, who were traditionally anointed with holy anointing oil as described in Exodus 30:22-25 (the term was not applied exclusively to Jewish kings; the Hebrew Bible refers to Cyrus the great, king of Persia, as a messiah).
Following the death of Simon bar Kokhba, who ruled Judea from 132-135 until defeated by the Romans and who was considered by some to be the last messiah, the term came to refer to a Jewish king who would rule at the end of history.
In later Jewish messianic tradition and eschatology, messiah refers to a leader anointed by God, and in some cases, a future King of Israel, physically descended from the Davidic line, who will rule the united tribes of Israel[1] and herald the Messianic Age[2] of global peace.

  • Muslims see this as the word in Arabic language مسيح, Masih; meaning also, "anointed one" or "wiped" or "rubbed" as this was the tradition of the ceremony of installation of office for a ruler/king of Israel. Reference in Quran is to Jesus, peace be upon him, as the Masih ibn Mariam. The Chosen, the son of Mary.

Rasool means Apostle or Messenger (Arabic: رسول‎ rasūl, plural رسل rusul) is a prophet sent by God.
According to the Qur'an, God sent many prophets to mankind. The five universally acknowledged messengers in Islam are Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad[1], as each is believed to have been sent with a scripture.
Muslim tradition also maintains that Adam received scrolls as did some of the other patriarchs of the Generations of Adam
The term Apostle or Messenger is also applied to prophets sent to preach to specific areas; the Qur'an mentions Jonah, Elijah Ishmail and Shoaib and other prophets as being messengers as well.

I'm sorry for those who believe this book is the authentic written word of Jesus, peace be upon him. The most I can say about this book other than being an ancient manuscript of somebody's writing - it should not be seriously considered as anything more than another discovery of ancient rubbish.

- Yusuf Estes

EDITOR FOR ISLAMNEWSROOM: We agreed with what Yusuf Estes said. This may very likely be just another fake "proof" for Muslims to concern themselves, while all the time the real "proof" for Islam is right in front of us all - the Holy Quran.
Please warn everyone about this and give them this page link: www.IslamNewsroom.com/news-we-need/1800
And encouage Muslims everywhere to stop watching so much TV, listeing to so much music, and wasting time arguing over these matters.
We have a very real serious situation for Muslims all around the world - our efforts should be toward repentance, seeking forgiveness and making dua for other brothers and sisters everywhere who are suffering at the hands of seroius oppressors.

~ END ~

But we do have another story about Barnabas & his so-called "Gospel of Banabas" - a famous book, promoted by some Muslims trying to prove "Muhammad, peace be upon him" is in the Old Books . . .
