Entering Islam & Being A Muslim

Anyone, anywhere regardless of race or nationality can become a true worshipper of One God - the God of Adam, Abraham, Moses and Jesus Christ, peace be upon them, if you are ready to.. sincerely commit to Him alone in true worship.

Consider the following:

The word “Muslim” comes from the same root as “Islam” in Arabic. It means someone who chooses to submit to the will of God in peace and sincerity.

This is open to anyone regardless of their nationality, race or ethnicity.

Being a Muslim means to believe and act on the belief completely and always. Anyone may become a Muslim, simply by understanding 6 basic beliefs and practicing 5 basic acts of worship.

The beliefs are – “The Six Articles of Faith”:

  1. Belief in Allah, as One and Only God without partners of any kind
  2. Belief in angels, being made from light, always obedient to Allah
  3. Belief in all the Books of Allah, Torah, Gospel and Quran
  4. Belief in all prophets of God, peace be upon them, as messengers of God
  5. Belief in the Day of Resurrection, Day of Judgment and of Reckoning
  6. Belief in the Destiny of God’s Command

Acts of Worship are – “The Five Pillars of Islam”

  1. Statement of declaration of faith – “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger”
  2. Five daily prayers
  3. Paying 2 ½ percent of extra wealth to poor and needy every year
  4. Fasting the month of Ramadan during day-light hours
  5. Performing the pilgrimage (or hajj in Arabic)

A person may accept Islam in front of a group or alone. When there is a complete commitment to a strong belief in God and desire to worship Him on His terms, a person is already very near to being in the true state of Islam.

The person just pronounces their “shahadah” (declaration of faith) as follows:

“I bear witness there is none to worship, except One True God, Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His messenger and servant.”

When this is done with sincerity and conviction of heart, the person enters into the fold of Islam and becomes a “Muslim”.

At that point, all sins will be forgiven by All Mighty God, Himself. The person then becomes as pure as a new born baby, all bad deeds are erased from their book of deeds and these are replaced by good deeds and the person only has good deeds.

Upon entering the fold of Islam purely for the Pleasure of God, all of one’s previous sins are forgiven, and one starts a new life of piety and righteousness.

Someone said he would only accept Islam if Allah would forgive his sins. The prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, “Didn’t you know that accepting Islam destroys all sins which come before it?” (Saheeh Muslim)

Also, all of the person’s prayers are immediately answered by All Mighty God, Allah.

After accepting Islam a person essentially repents from all of the sins and incorrect beliefs of their former lifestyle. They should not burden themselves about sins committed in the past.

The person is now reborn, so-to-speak and is now just as innocent in front of Almighty God, as the day they came from their mother. It is important to work toward keeping the record clean and work to do good deeds as much as possible, doing acts of worship and charity. Also remembering Almighty God if they do something wrong and repent immediately for it and then do good deeds to make up for it.

Consider the “Recitation of Allah” (that is what the word “Quran” actually means):

“The way of life prescribed by Allah is only surrender, submission in sincerity and peace” (ISLAM) – Quran 3:19

And,

“Whoever seeks a Way of life other than surrender and obedience in peace to Allah, then Allah will never accept it and in the Next Life, the person will be amongst the losers (in the Hell-Fire).” – Quran 3:85

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said;

“Certainly God forbids that a person be commanded to the Hell Fire forever, who has said, “I testify there is none to worship except Allah and Muhammad is His messenger” seeking the Face of Allah.” (Bukhari)

9 Points of the Declaration of Faith (Shahadah)

First, begin by reading the entire page at www.IslamTomorrow.com/9points

Entering Islam and becoming a Muslim begins when someone pronounces the testimony of faith with conviction and understands the meaning:

I testify “La ilah illa Allah, Muhammad rasoolu Allah.”

I bear witness there is none to worship, except Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger.

Let the teachers and presenters help you pronounce the shahadah properly.

As far as the commitment to Almighty God, it is understood that a Muslim would never worship anything or anyone other than Allah.

And regarding the belief in Muhammad, peace be upon him, he becomes the example and role model for Muslims everywhere.

As Allah Says in Quran,

“And indeed you are upon a high standard of moral character.” (Quran 68:4)

Allah also said, “And in deed you have a good and upright example in the Messenger of God, for those who hope in the meeting of God and the Hereafter, and mentions God much.” (Quran 33:21)

The prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was the example for us to be able to practice in real life, what Islam is really all about.

Regarding this, his wife Ayesha, may Allah have Mercy on her, said,

“If you would like to see the Quran in motion (example in real life) then look to Muhammad (peace be upon him).” (As-Suyooti)

Sticking to the other half of the shahadah (bearing witness to the prophet being our example) is to really believe what he said is true and to put it into practice in our lives.

Regarding this, Allah Almighty says,

“Say, If you truly love Allah, follow me. And He will Forgive your sins for He is the Forgiver, The Merciful.”

Also, Muhammad is the last and final messenger of Allah and none will come after him.

“Muhammad is not the father of any man among you but he is the Messenger of God and the last (end) of the Prophets and God is Ever All-Aware of everything.” (Quran 33:40)

Anyone claiming to be a prophet or receiving messages from God, after Muhammad, peace be upon him, are in fact, liars and fakes, and accepting them or acknowledging them as such is the same as disbelief itself.

Welcome to Islam – dear brothers and dear sisters. Congratulations on your decision and for being rightly Guided by Almighty God, Himself.
