Answer 2 mentions that we Muslims only use both Sun and Moon to determine prayer time. It is incorrect. Easter Sunday is on the Sunday following the first FULL MOON after the March 20 Equinox. Apparently, followers of Sungods tend to celebrate when Sun is growing and Moon is Shrinking. (Example during Easter Sunday, Sun is Rising on Eastern side and Moon is getting weak and on 23rd-25th December Sun (of God) is getting birth and growing every day) Like wise can it be said that new moon is or used to be an event for followers of Moongod? Please do not assume that I am saying that it is Islamic. But in the way we know that Sun worshippers say prayers during sunrise and sunset and we refrain from it, if we know Moon worshippers celebrate New Moon - would we stop celebrating Eid? I believe the Cross represents SUN and the Crescent represents moon and internationally we are kept divided into two groups unknowingly to us.

About using the lunar calender (question 2) I would like to add that as we use the moon for determining the months including ramadhan and hajj(pilgrimage ) we also use the sun for determining the prayer times and Allah could have chosen for us another way but we follow and accept and submit and believe. By the way using the moon or lunar calender is also practiced some how by China, Japan, Vietnam and India for certain things. I guess may be because for ancient people the cycling time of the moon gave meaning for the start and the end of a certain phase of time.

Bismillah - salam alaykum. Allahu 'Alim. Allah is the Knower of All. The Quran does not forbid dogs. In fact, the Quran mentions what to do when using your hunting dog. Also, work dogs and seeing-eye dogs are not forbidden either. We find in hadeeth, the prophet, peace be upon him, warned us about having dogs in places where we pray or places where we want angels. The angel Gabriel told Muhammad, peace be upon him, "Angels do not enter rooms with dogs". Bottom line - don't bring the dog in where you live.

EDITOR: No Asim - Actually, the word 'ELAH' in Hebrew is related to ALLAH. ELAH (means the thing which is worshiped) and it is related to the word ALLAH except ALLAH is the proper name of the One and Only ELAH. (Means the Only One to Worship) The word "ADNONAI" is a word substituted in the Old Testament and it is translated into English as "LORD". Rabbi - is also a word translated as "Teacher" from Hebrew. Rabb in Arabic is translated to English as "Lord" Hope we cleared this up for you. The word "ELAH" is closest in English to the word "GOD - BUT the word "ALLAH" is the proper name of the One and Only God. Hope we cleared it up for you Asim...
