Water For the People Trip - Big Success!
Sheik Yusuf Estes and Imam Mutahhir Sabree arrived back in Washington, D.C. just today (Saturday) - weary, tired and exhausted - but, safe and sound. Allahu Akbar!
Their journey took them to Nairobi, Kenya and then on into the most remote part of Kenya right by the Somali border.
It was dangerous and grueling as they made their way through areas where military escorts were necessary 24 hours a day.
They found villagers without even the very most basic needs, such as safe drinking water and ....
they were able to determine the needs of the people there as well as to investigate the progress of one of the most active charities for Islam in the world.
Islamic Relief was there on the job doing more than anyone could possibly expect, bringing in equipment, building pump houses, drilling wells, running pipes, putting in kiosks and bringing the water right out to where the people and animals could get to it.
"There are many things we still want to do, such as re-filter the water for human consumption and make it more palatable" said one of the workers for Islamic Relief, "But for now, the main thing is to get the water flowing"
And flowing it was...
