KORAN, QURAN, QUR’AAN?

"Can I bring the Arabic in to the English?"

Can you fit the ocean into a water glass?

___________

"Why do they say, 'We can't translate Quran to English'?"

Arabic language has over 10,000 roots.

English  =  0.

___________

How is English less than Arabic?

Arabic is of the original languages.

Arabic, Hebrew, and Aramaic are from the original language of Adam.

One of the deepest realities about Arabic and its sacred role:
It’s not just another language — it’s design runs opposite to Latin-based systems in direction and structure.

📜 Direction and Form

 Arabic English

  • Arabic, like Hebrew and Aramaic, flows right to left, while Latin, Greek, and European scripts flow left to right.
This reversal isn’t random — it reflects how Arabic begins from the heart (right side of the body) and moves outward, symbolically toward the listener.
  • Latin and its children (like English, French, Spanish) start on the left — they move from outside in.
Arabic, in both script and meaning, moves from within outward.

~ Sounds & Letters ~

  • Latin alphabets simply cannot represent Arabic accurately.
Arabic has 28 letters, many with sounds that do not exist in Latin or European tongues:
    • ‘Ayn (ع) and Ghayn (غ)
    • Ha (ح) and Kha (خ)
    • Qaf (ق) and Thā (ث) — none of these have true equivalents.
  • So, when people try to transliterate Arabic, they end up approximating, not reproducing.
    For example:
    • Quran becomes “Koran,”
    • Thikr becomes “Dhikr,”
    • Salat becomes “Prayer” — but prayer doesn’t mean salat.

🕊️ Pronunciation Challenge

Even native speakers of Latin-based languages struggle to pronounce Arabic properly in daily speech, let alone words from the Quran revealed 1450 years ago.

They don’t have the jaw, tongue, and throat patterns that Arabic develops naturally — the sounds come from deep within, connected to breath and soul.

Quran is not read — it’s RECITED — because the truth of it lives not just in letters, but in sound, rhythm, and intention.
