Everyone of the Muslims understood the Roman Empire of the east  was washed up. But the 

The Holy Roman Empire ended in two distinct stages, the Western Roman Empire fell in 476 C.E. Romulus Augustus got kicked out by chieftain Odoacer, in 476 C.E. 

The Eastern Roman Empire (The Byzantine Empire) was still in business for 1,000 years more - Until, of course, the Muslims, led by Sultan Mehmet and his "NEVER SAY DIE" attitude (and around 200,000 to 300,000 troops) changed everything. 


🏛️ Western Roman Empire

  • Fall Date: 476 CE

  • How: The last emperor, Romulus Augustulus, was deposed by the Germanic chieftain Odoacer.

  • Significance: This is traditionally considered the end of Ancient Rome and the start of the Middle Ages in Western Europe.


🏰 Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire)

  • Fall Date: 1453 CE

  • How: The Ottomans under Sultan Mehmed II conquered Constantinople, the capital.

  • Significance: This marked the true end of the Roman Empire in its continuous form, which had lasted over 1,400 years.


Sultan Mehmet was in no mode for anymore Bysentine He had come over a huge mountain (and his men carrying the ship - thats' another story) - then Sultan Mehmet ordered his men, "SETUP AND FIRE!"

After the cannons had been tested and they were deemed ready for service, the Sultan Mehmed sent out the order to his officers to muster the forces and meet at the Ottoman capital of Edirne.
