Obama Says "NO"
To Rebel Forces
Against Militants

Islam Newsroom: "U.S. Refuses Aid to 'Moderate' Rebels"

President Barak Obama says he will continue his plan for Syria - disregarding America's recent failure to train thousands of so-called "moderate rebels" and Russia's surprise entrance into the war there.

Disregarding severe criticism over the past months about failed attempts, poor or no strategy and worsening conditions in Syria's war against militants, the President clearly reiterated his position for the continuance of his plans for situation in Syria are because he wants to see America to be less involved from a military standpoint.

His opinion is simple this: "American force does not offer long-term workable solutions"

One report says, the President said, "We're prepared to work diplomatically, and where we can, to support the moderate opposition, that can help convince Russian and Iran to put pressure on Assad for a transition."

He continued, "What we're not going to do, is try to reinsert ourselves in a military campaign in Syria."

The President's administration had previously announced, it would end a half billion dollar move for training rebels for combat in Syria - to fight against the insurgents there.

The new plan is supposed to give direct aid to existing rebel units and is considered by the U.S. Pentagon to be superior and likely more successful against the militants.

The president's top national security advisors at that time, including Hillary Clinton, wanted to give weapons to the "moderate rebels" in the beginning of Syria's civil conflict, yet he remained firm in his decision against that option due to misgivings he had about such a training program even before they could start it.

Finally, last year he went ahead with it in an effort to try "different" approaches to the problems, with the hope of making things better, even though the situation was rapidly falling apart around all of Syria at the time.

President Obama told reporters the program failed due to difficulties and it would be almost impossible to get the "moderate rebels" to focus only on combating the militants.

The president offered that the military force of Syria's president, Bashar Al-Assad would be the target more likely to be attacked by the rebels due to obvious conflicts between them.
