GARFIELD, Texas (KXAN) - Thick, black smoke caught the attention of a KXAN News crews while driving down State Highway 71 at 1:45 p.m. Thursday -- located just east of State Highway 130.
A building next to a house could be seen being consumed by flames as the crew got closer as they turned down the road.
Firefighters were on scene trying to put it out, and a woman stood on the road worried that the flames would reach her home next door.
Crews working on the fire had it out after a short time, and the Austin Fire Department responded to the scene as well.
Firefighters said some grass and brush nearby caught fire, but they were able to put it out. Structure and grass fire were knocked down, and crews mopped up hot spots.
