Sharif, famous for his roles in Dr. Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia (1962), and Funny Girl (1968) had this to say to President Hosni Mubarak, "Get Out!"

Film legend Omar Sharif has joined growing opposition against Mubarak, Egypt's president, calling for him to step down.
He said Mubarak had failed to improve the standard of living for ordinary people and 30 years in power was enough.

The 78-year old from Alexandria is well known for his role as Arab reformer and revolutionary Sherif Ali in the 1962 movie Lawrence of Arabia.

"The president should have resigned," Mr Sharif said in a radio interview. "Given that the entire Egyptian people don't want him and he's been in power for 30 years that's enough."

"The president hasn't improved the standard of living of Egyptians. There are some people that are very rich – maybe 1 per cent – and the rest are all poor trying to find food," Mr Sharif said.

Mr. Sharif expressed concerns over which group might try to influence future politics in his country and did not particularly find favor with the Ikhwan Muslimeen (Muslims Brothers).
