Tirah Bazar in Kohat, Pakistan -- A teen detonated a bomb on a bus just as it started to take off at the bazar here today.
City police chief Dilawar Bangish says the actual target was likely a tribal chief who opposes Pakistan's Taliban. It is well-known the Taliban have a big influence in the Northwest Frontier in this part of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Kohat is in the Khyber Paktunkhwa Province, which had been called the Northwest Frontier Province.
It seemns there is a rash of these types of suicide bombings being committed in this area, even though the Pakistan military offensives are at all time high.
More and more we are hearing stories of youth who seem prone to taking the law into their own hands, and with little or no regard for local laws or for those who may be injured or killed, carry out these most violent and deadly acts.
There have been no reports of locals receiving any particular instructions from the government as far as what they might do (or not do) in these circumstances they find themselves in today.
