NOTE: Allah warns us against the temptings of the shayton and one of those warning is about piercing and changing the creation of Allah.Here is a reminder of what Allah tells us in His Book about listening to and following the inspirations of the shayton:

002.168
O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and wholesome in the earth, and follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an open enemy for you.

002.169
(Shayton) For he commands you what is evil and shameful, and that ye should say of Allah that of which ye have no knowledge.

006.043
When the suffering reached them from us, why then did they not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened, and Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them.

007.200
And if a false imputation from the Shaitan afflict you, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is Hearing, Knowing.

007.201
Surely those who guard (against evil), when a visitation from the Shaitan afflicts them they become mindful, then lo! they see.

007.202
And their brethren increase them in error, then they cease not.

016.063
By Allah, most certainly We sent (messengers) to nations before you, but the Shaitan made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so he is their guardian today, and they shall have a painful punishment.

017.053
And say to My servants (that) they speak that which is best; surely the Shaitan sows dissensions among them; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man.

020.120
But the Shaitan made an evil suggestion to him; he said: O Adam! Shall I guide you to the tree of immortality and a kingdom which decays not?

022.053
So that He may make what the Shaitan casts a trial for those in whose hearts is disease and those whose hearts are hard; and most surely the unjust are in a great opposition,

024.021
O you who believe! do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan, and whoever follows the footsteps of the Shaitan, then surely he bids the doing of indecency and evil; and were it not for Allah's grace upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have ever been pure, but Allah purifies whom He pleases; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

Surely the Shaitan is your enemy, so take him for an enemy; he only invites his party that they may be inmates of the burning

036.060
Did I not charge you, O children of Adam ! that you should not serve the Shaitan? Surely he is your open enemy,

And that you should serve Me; this is the right way.

YUSUFALI: "But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand?
PICKTHAL: Yet he hath led astray of you a great multitude. Had ye then no sense?
SHAKIR: And certainly he led astray numerous people from among you. What! could you not then understand?

This is the hell with which you were threatened.

And if an interference of the Shaitan should cause you mischief, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

043.036
And whoever turns himself away from the remembrance of the Beneficent Allah, We appoint for him a Shaitan, so he becomes his associate.

043.037
And most surely they turn them away from the path, and they think that they are guided aright:

058.019
The Shaitan has gained the mastery over them, so he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah; they are the Shaitan's party; now surely the Shaitan's party are the losers.

058.020
Surely (as for) those who are in opposition to Allah and His Messenger; they shall be among the most destroyed.

These verses seem to indicate the problems coming to most of us on a daily basis. We should be on our guard against the shayton and seek refuge in Allah against loosing everything over such foolish things as disobeying Allah and His messenger in seemingly 'harmless' matters.

My advise? - Tell the person to spend more time praying and less time hanging out with people who think that poking holes in your body is OK; and spend more money on charity and less money on damaging the creation of Allah.

Perhaps you should advise the person to leave this idea for the non-Muslims who don't have anything to do with their time or their money.

Muslims around the world are suffering in so many ways, and it seems as though we could find more to do with our resources than to poke holes in our bodies and mark ourselves with tattoos.

One young man had his tongue pierced just a couple of months ago. His father was very upset, and tried to talk to him about this very foolish thing. The boy couldn't eat or drink for a few days. He did begin to eat but only liquids. The one who pierced him was not really a professional. The boy had heart problems since birth. He was born with heart defects. He had open heart surgery at age 1 1/2.

Guess what?

After a few more days he began coffing. It increased and increased day after day. Finally he went to emergency room at the local hospital. They immedieately put him on life support and ventilator for breathing.

He almost died. After several days in intensive care and some days in the hospital, he survived.

But when he got well, he showed no appreciation toward Allah for saving him.
