Dear Sheik Yusuf: Salaam alaikum, Is there any possibility of taubah and correction of a homosexual who is Muslim; a Hajji, doctor child specialist, knows and reads Quran, and now he is declared to be gay?
Please tell her what should she do? Divorce. And what else? Wasalam alaykum

This is a most unfortunate circumstance in which to find oneself, without doubt. However, we must always bear in mind that everything that happens to us is a test from Allah. We must keep our heads about us and deal with each situation with the firm belief that this is only a trial from Allah and He is watching and recording all that we are doing about the situations that He puts us into.
Having said that, I would encourage you to read something that we have placed on the Internet a number of years ago on this very same subject:
www.IslamTomorrow.com/gays.htm

You know your situation better than anyone else. However, it might be that the other person could read this pages and then rethink their position and perhaps turn away from this horrible thing before it is too late for them. If they do repent and make taubah, they should cut off all relationships with any acquaintances who have been involved in this crime. They might even do well to relocate in another place, inshallah.
If they do not intend to repent and turn away from this unnatural and forbidden practice, then the spouse would have no choice except for divorce and Allah Knows best.

Sometimes people are doing things that they do not consider to be haram or forbidden, due to their lack of knowledge of real Islam. I have found that when people know better, they do better. So, if you don't mind my suggestion, you might have them all (whoever they are) read from our pages about Islam and the purpose of life at:
http://islamtomorrow.com/islam
(explains what Islam really is and what it is not)
http://www.GodAllah.com
(brings attention to who Allah really is and this helps us to understand our relationship with Him better)
http://islamtomorrow.com/purpose
(explains our purpose of life here on this earth)
http://islamtomorrow.com/live
(listen to the teachings and advise of real scholars of Islam = in plain English - you can even ask questions in chat form while the scholars are speaking)
I would like to offer that you seek advise on this subject from Dr. Farhat Hashmi, a respected scholar and notable authority on Islam in Pakistan. She is a Dr. of Islam as is her husband, Dr. Muhammad Idris, and they would be in the best position to advise about the laws and regulations on this topic there in your area.
Please pray for this person to come to the right path and to leave off this way, and pray for all the Muslims to come into Islam perfectly as Allah has told us in His Book:
O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shayton (Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy.
Quran 2:208:
Any good is from Allah & the mistakes were from myself. May Allah guide all of us to His Truth, ameen.
